Our Spelling Worker Bees (SWBs) are the wheels of the program.  They are young adults, who were previously employed as Education Assistants and General School Assistants under the Presidential Youth Employment Initiative (PYEI), implemented through the Basic Education Employment Initiative (BEEI). The PYEI initiative hires unemployed South African youth between the ages of 18 and 35 to serve in schools, tackling both unemployment and the need to support quality learning.

Our SWBs are trained on the Spelling BeeHive model to provide support in schools, prepare and coach learners to compete in the four BeeHive competitions.  SWBs are enthusiastic, capable, and deeply committed to making a difference in the lives of learners.
